Daedalus legends
According to Greek mythology, the first man was born as a child. He was named Daedalus. The legends of Daedalus go back to several different time periods. It is unclear exactly when this king was born. But it is believed that he was born in Crete, where King Minos was then ruling. Daedalus was imprisoned for several years and spent time in the service of King Minos. During that time, Daedalus also had a son, Icarus, with Naucrate, a mistress-slave of King Minos.
Mythological scenes
In Renaissance and Baroque era, painters art legends in history depicted key episodes from classical myths, including the seduction of Leda by the Swan, the golden rain luring Danae, and the punishment of Marsyas by Apollo. Other important mythological events depicted in art are Jove’s defeat of the Giants, the abduction of Europa, Bacchus’ encounter with Ariadne, and the fall of Phaethon and Galatea.
Abstract forms of art
The emergence of Abstract art is closely linked to the 19th century wave of independence. During this time, artists gained more freedom to experiment, developing their own interests and capital.
